They had endured the cold, wet January practices. They overcame the seemingly endless laps, infield and outfield drills and the tedious base-running lessons.
Cruising through the regular season, they were accustomed to winning - and it was great. They hosted and won the school’s first home playoff game in decades. They were on top of their world and were enjoying the ride.
But now, twelve seniors were faced with the last three outs of their high school careers staring at them 60 feet, 6 inches away.
